One Heart One World Yoga & Meditation Retreats

A retreat gives us the space to receive the extraordinary gifts that are waiting for us in our practice. We will explore practice as a deep, sensing, listening way of being so we can deeply attune to our inner wisdom. From this inner embodied knowing, we can engage with the world with passion, direction and compassion.
Our practice includes yoga postures, mindful movement, sitting and walking meditation, yoga nidra and sound practices, all infused with teachings from the wisdom traditions. There is also a daily talk, guided self-inquiry and contemplation all exploring how we bring our practice into the world, each in our own unique way. We will explore yoga poses as ways of being, rather than forms to achieve and with an emphasis on meditation as the essential heart of yoga. We practise meditation sitting, walking, lying down and in meditative movement, to fully enliven the felt sense of the body and our connection with presence.

Paradoxically, as we rest in the silence of our own being, our inner voice becomes clearer and our deepest life can unfold. Of course we all have times of pain and confusion. This retreat will be a special opportunity to listen deeply to ourselves, just as we are. From this deep listening, our deepest path can emerge. Imagine living a meaningful, fulfilling life, integrating your emotional exploration, with your experiential awakening, with your work in the world. We will use the springboard of deep practice, times of silence and contemplation and the inspiring teachings of yoga and engaged spirituality to renew your direction and help you offer your gift to this world.
What is your love song to the world?
This retreat is ideal for those who have some yoga experience and want to integrate their inner practice with their work in the world. Yoga students, activists, community development workers, social workers, teachers, psychologists – all those who want to create a better world, from all walks of life – are welcome.
Care will be taken to create a supportive environment for your practice. One to one support with Anahata is offered. Practising with like-minded travellers is deeply inspiring for our inner journey. Each participant has their own room and there will be delicious and nourishing catering offered.
Most of the retreat will be held in silence. Silence creates a deep and steady container for your inner journey and is offered as a deeply nourishing foundation for this retreat. Sessions will be guided with words.
This retreat is suitable for all levels of experience of both yoga and meditation. Places are limited to 22 participants so please book early.

Venue & Accommodation & Meals

Retreats are held at the Maitripa Contemplative Centre near Healesville which has simple accommodation in a beautiful bushland setting with a wonderful peaceful atmosphere. You will have your own room – or shared room also available if preferred. There are shared toilet and bathroom facilities. Delicious, healthy, abundant and mostly organic vegetarian meals, beverages and fruit will be provided. Our yogi-chefs cook healthy and wonderful food. We are happy to cater for any special dietary requirements. Meals will be abundant but you are welcome to bring your own snacks. Those who are coffee drinkers: if you need to, please bring your own coffee and coffee making implements as coffee will not be provided. All participants are asked to contribute a small amount of time helping in the kitchen and general cleaning.

What to Bring

Please note: Maitripa provides full bedding (i.e. doona, blanket, all sheets, pillow and pillow case so you do not need to bring bedding.)

  • Yoga Mat and blanket

  • Meditation cushion or stool – optional if you prefer – there are plenty of meditation cushions there

  • Towel and toiletries

  • Walking shoes to enjoy the surrounding bush

  • Slip on and off shoes are handy for going in and out of yoga room

  • Mosquito repellant – optional but could be handy

  • Warm clothes – for early mornings and nights, it can be chilly

  • Sunscreen and hat

  • Water bottle

3 Easy Steps to Maitripa Centre

1. Drive to Healesville
2. Drive through the main street/shopping strip of Healesville and turn left at St Leonard’s Road
3. Then it’s about an 8 minute drive to Maitripa. St Leonard’s Road turns into winding Myers Creek Road. Just after the Brentwood B & B look out for the Maitripa sign on your right – drive up the driveway and park in the carpark on the left.

Prices and Booking

The cost for the 3 night Labour Day weekend retreat is $640 full, $580 concession. The cost for the 4 night Cup weekend Retreat is $750 full, $690 concession. Concession is for students, unemployed or pensioners. Cost includes extensive yoga and meditation tuition each day, delicious and abundant, mostly organic catering and private accommodation. Please register your interest by email and I will then send you a registration form and payment details. Please book early as these retreats can book out. Full payment is due at least 2 weeks before the retreat start date. For concession payments please contact Anahata by email.

Refund Policy

If there is a cancellation one week or more before the start of the retreat the full amount MINUS the non-refundable portion of $100 will be refunded. For any cancellations less than one week before the start of the retreat there will be no refund. If the retreat is cancelled by the Organisers, then your full payment including your full deposit will be refunded.
