Poem: Window

Bark, by Anahata Giri

Bark, by Anahata Giri

Window

Peer through this window

into a home

where there is secret and

terrible unhappiness.

See us

sliced off

from each other.

We are shards of glass

from the mirror

smashed.

The window frames us together,

in the aftermath,

standing, each in our shameful wound,

unreachable to the other.

We know fragmentation

in the place

of ourselves that should be intact.

Step away from the window now,

There is no family here.
